Application Security, Inc. Demonstrates Commitment to EMEA with UK Regional Operations Center

September 26th, 2006

Application Security, Inc. (AppSecInc) (http://www.appsecinc.com) the global leader in database security, today announced the opening of its first regional sales and operations center in the UK. Headed by George Fyffe, Business Development and Sales Director for the EMEA Region, the UK-based staff manages direct customer relations, a strong partner and reseller group, and business development across European, Middle East and African markets.

This international expansion is driven by dramatic growth in demand for application security services to protect vital enterprise databases from attack by outside attackers and malicious insiders. Since February 2005, these threats have contributed to the exposure of over 93 million personal records according to the U.S.-based watchdog group, the Privacy Rights Clearinghouse. As these data breach losses approach near-epidemic proportions, they threaten not only individuals, but also the corporate entities tasked with protecting that data.

AppSecInc is the leading provider of database security solutions, and the only security solutions provider presently addressing the entire database vulnerability management lifecycle. The company´s innovative security suite is widely recognized throughout the industry as the most comprehensive and widely-deployed of its kind. By securing data at its source, AppSecInc customers can proactively harden their database applications against attack, while at the same time grounding compliance audits where sensitive information lives.

The AppSecInc suite comprises:

* AppDetective(TM) for database vulnerability assessment scanning

* AppRadar(TM) for real-time database activity monitoring and auditing

* DbEncrypt(TM) for column-level encryption

* AppSecInc Console(TM) for distributed management in an enterprise environment

In using this suite, organizations can extend the security methodology they´ve been using for their network and general-purpose hosts to include the most valuable assets — corporate databases.

In honor of the UK opening, Jack Hembrough, president and Chief Executive Officer of AppSecInc, said: “Data breaches are a worldwide phenomenon, and AppSecInc´s expansion reflects our commitment to meeting the increasing security demands of international organizations. We look forward to leveraging our global partnerships in order to provide EMEA customers with the most comprehensive solution for addressing their database security challenges.” AppSecInc reports that the move is largely driven by market demands in the financial services, telecommunications and government sectors and that revenue in the region is up more than 300% since 2005.

Underscoring its commitment to the security industry, AppSecInc is a member of the Cyber Security Industry Alliance (CSIA). CSIA members provide the industry with insight, technical expertise, depth and focus to help government leaders better understand the issues around cyber security policy. This influential organization recently advised the U.S. Congress about the need for increased security measures to protect databases and personal privacy data and supported the ratification of the Council of Europe´s Convention on Cybercrime. “Information security is a global issue that demands a commensurate approach to solving its challenges,” said CSIA Executive Director Paul Kurtz. “We applaud the efforts of our members to bring state-of-the-art security measures to the European market.”

To support the European expansion effort, AppSecInc is adding strength to its existing Channel Program with partners across the EU. Partners include companies such as Cirosec in Germany, CageSoftware in the UK, Programatic in Italy, Information Technology Co and Informzaschita in the Russian Federation along with a host of newer partners in other countries. AppSecInc also has cooperative marketing agreements with such influential vendors as Skybox(R) Security, Inc., the leader in Security Risk Management (SRM).

In support of the UK center opening, Gidi Cohen, president and Chief Executive Officer of Skybox Security said, “The recent marketing and technical partnership between AppSecInc and Skybox will allow, for the first time, UK and EMEA enterprises to have a complete solution for managing security risks and vulnerabilities in all the layers of the IT stack. We are glad to see that such an important solution for managing database vulnerabilities is now available in Europe.”
