Apple improves AirPort Extreme security

January 26th, 2007

Apple has issued AirPort Extreme security update intended for Intel-based Macs running Mac OS X v 10.4.8. The update patches a vulnerability that could cause system crashes on a wireless network, says Apple.

“An out-of-bounds memory read may occur while handling wireless frames. An attacker in local proximity may be able to trigger a system crash by sending a maliciously-crafted frame to an affected system,” says the advisory.

According to Apple, the problem exists in certain Mac models: the Core Duo version of the Mac Mini, MacBook and MacBook Pro.
